Analects 7:2
The master said: “keeping silent
and thinking; studying without satiety, teaching others without weariness:
these things come natural to me.”
I will interpret
each phrase in the given Analects with my limited knowledge. First is, “Keeping
silent and thinking”, keeping silent and thinking means not so much into
talking nonsense things rather being silent and at peace, thinking means
reflecting on a certain thing. “Studying without satiety” I will use a scholar
and a student as an example for interpreting the phrase. A student gets easily
full when studying or should I say, a student tends to rest when studying even
just for a minute and a student gets easily satisfied with what he/she studied,
while a scholar keeps on reading books and studies what he/she had read and
does not stop or easily become tired of studying and reading, a scholar
continue to study even more. “Teaching others without weariness” I will give
the doctors who help at the barrios and mountains, doctors who volunteer and
help people that are from the barrios even they are not paid, they continue to
help others without complaining about the condition of the place or how far the
place is, because they always instill in their hearts and minds that they help
for the good of many. All of these qualities are natural to the master.
