Analects 1:4
Ceng Zi said: “Each day I examine
myself in three ways: in doing things for others, have I been disloyal? In my
interaction with friend, have I been trustworthy? Have not practiced what I
have practiced.”
I will give
myself or my very own experiences to interpret well the given Analects. “In
doing things for others, have I been disloyal?” when my mother asks different
things through calls and I answered it in different ways, after the
conversation, I reflected and ask myself, did I said what the truth is and if
not, did I have been disloyal to her?. “In my interaction with friend, have I
been trustworthy?” when my friends said things that are should be kept secret
and things that are said to me and to the selected people, at the end of the day
I reflected and ask myself whether I have been trustworthy or not because
sometimes I am not sure whether I spoke even the smallest details to others or
not. “Have not practiced what I have preached” at the end of the day or before
I sleep, I am always reflecting and ask myself whether I have done what I have
said or done what I intend to do.
