Feng shui (Wind & Water)

The idea that i encountered today is the idea of Feng shui. To share the idea that i encountered today, I would like to discuss the brief history on how it started and how it works on you.

Feng means wind and shui means water. In Chinese culture wind and water are associated with good health, thus good feng shui came to mean good fortune. Feng Shui is based on the Taoist vision and understanding of nature, particularly on the idea that the land is alive and filled with Chi or energy. It is an ancient art and science developed over 3,000 years ago in China. It is a commplex body of knowledge that reveals how to balance the energies of any given space to assure health and good fortune for people inhabiting it.

The main tools used in feng shui analysis are the Bagua and Compass. The Bagua is the energy map that is octagonal grid containing the symbols of the I Ching, the ancient oracle on which feng shui is based. Knowimg the bagua of  your home will help you understand the connection of specific feng shui areas of your home to specific areas of your life. The Luo-Pan or so called Compass is used to access deeper information about a site or abuilding. It consist of bands of concentric rings arranged around the magnetic needle. Luo means everythimg and Pan means bowl, which interpreted as a bowl that contains all the mysteries of the universe.

Feng shui offers a variety of cures to improve your life. From feng shui use of aquarium, crystals and fountains to attract prosperity and the proper use of colors and clocks. In our home, even we are not chinese, my mother tend to change the position of the aquarium and the water dispenser and the other forms of things that contains water yearly and also changes the position of our couches and she also chooses the right color of our curtain. It has no significant impact in my life beacuse I'm a Muslim but it is also meaningful because I can understand how the other culture think and perceive things.
